Crook Town vs Newcastle Blue Star (10/04/2026)

After an extended run of home games, Newcastle Blue Star find themselves back on the road on Saturday. A final away fixture in the league to be contested at Crook Town’s Sir Tom Cowie Millfield Ground, whether it leads to further away days in the playoffs is still to be decided.

If that is to be the case, Blue Star know that they have to do their bit and hope results go in their favour elsewhere. That being said, results have certainly gone in the favour of the KD Stadium outfit these past couple of weeks.

A fifth successive league win was recorded last weekend after getting the better of Carlisle City by two goals to one, the winning streak in all competitions subsequently extended to six after further cup progress in midweek.

Progress in the League Cup confirmed after getting the better of Marske on Tuesday night. Sean Reid’s purple patch in front of goal continuing as the club captain opened the scoring, the talismanic talents of Dan Lanning doubling Blue Star’s advantage on the hour.

A 2-0 win in what was a rather disciplined performance by Blue Star, their reward a last eight tie with Newcastle University and although the prospect of ending the season with silverware will be welcomed, it is the bread and butter of league football that takes centre stage in just a few hours.

As things stand, Blue Star find themselves four points off the playoff paying position of fifth. The team occupying that berth, West Auckland are tasked with visiting Whitley Bay who although are already guaranteed an extension to their season, will be keen to secure a home semi-final.

If the gap can be closed to one with defeat for West Auckland and a Blue Star win at Crook Town, then all eyes will be on the final weekend of the season. It is all shaping up nicely but Paul Brayson will be telling his players not to lose focus of matters that are of a more immediate nature.

Something which sets up Saturday’s clash rather nicely indeed. A big thanks to Crook Town for the upcoming hospitality and for those attending from an away perspective, safe travels both there and back.
