Newcastle Blue Star are delighted to announce the signing of the talented & versatile Jake Cunningham.
A player known to Brassy, and with experience at this level and above, Jake will bring strength, depth & experience to our squad.
Having started his footballing journey off at Ashington AFC, Jake then completed a 4 year scholarship in the USA, before returning to the North East where he represented Whitley Bay and then Newcastle Benfield.
It was at the latter of the clubs on his return that Cunningham, who can be deployed across defence or pushed up into midfield, worked under current gaffer Paul Brayson.
Commenting on the latest addition, First Team Manager Paul Brayson, said: "Jake is technically very good, with a great left foot who can also play a number of positions.
"Having worked with him before he has never let me down wherever I have asked him to play. He will also bring some important experience to the young squad."
NE15s newest recruit said the following after signing on, "What attracted me to Blue Star initially was Brassy who I have played under before, as well as Gareth Mcalindon whilst he was assistant at Ashington. On top of that, the great following that the club have is something that always plays a part, along with some of my family members being part of that following!
Cunningham goes straight into Friday nights match day squad.
Welcome to the KD Stadium, Jake. 👋
