Newcastle Blue Star are delighted to announce the signing of Dan Wilson ahead of the 25/26 season, the proven goalscorer joining from Blyth Town FC.

Wilson, who scored the winning penalty against The Star in the play off final only a matter of weeks ago, joins the Scotswood based side having scored 59 goals in the past two seasons of Northern League football.

The athletic striker ended the 23/24 season with 35 goals in all competitions and followed that up with another 24 (all comps) in Division 1. Clinical.

A player known to the management team already having previously shared a dressing room at North Shields, Wilson will know exactly what Marc Nash expects of his players, having played 2-part seasons (Covid) and 2 full seasons under the Nash-Woodhouse leadership.

After putting pen to paper, new signing Dan Wilson said: "I’m absolutely delighted to have signed for Newcastle Blue Star. It’s a fantastic club with real ambition that want to continue its progression through the leagues."

"When the opportunity came up to work with Nashy and Woody again at a fantastic club there was really nowhere else I would want to sign. I am looking forward to pre-season, meeting the lads and contributing towards a successful year for the club. I have been impressed by the set up and fans every time I have played at Newcastle Blue Star and I cant wait to get started!"

Welcoming to new striker, First Team Manager Marc Nash commented: "Dan will give us another attacking dimension, someone who will hold the ball up and bring people into the game as well as getting into the box to score goals.

"He will bring the best out of the other forwards as they are very different players. To win things you need to have a variation in your approach and needing physicality at the top end was something we lacked. Dan scored 40 goals in the season we won NL with North Shields, so I know exactly what he'll bring. The squad has good balance and with one, possibly two more signings, I'll be satisfied that we are in a good place to have another go."
