Horden CW vs Newcastle Blue Star (19/09/2025)

ree

Friday night football is this weekend's Blue Star agenda and after Marc Nash and his players made it back-to-back league wins in midweek, they will be just as keen to extend that run to three in just a few hours.

Seven days after getting to grips with Northallerton on the road, Blue Star were having the same level of success when at home to Newcastle Benfield. All square at the break, a Dan Wilson second of the night proving to be the difference in the second half.

Six points in the space of a week has given the league ladder a slightly more stable base for the Scotswood outfit but with the first signs of momentum for the campaign starting to appear, it is time to kick this machine into second and even third gear.

While third is precisely where tonight’s opponents sit in the table before they also play the role of hosts. Horden Community Welfare were only celebrating promotion a few months ago, now they are one of the front runners in the early season pack.

Perhaps an element of similarly to when Blue Star tested the waters at a higher level just 12 months ago. An unknown quantity to start with but everyone knowing what they are all about in no time at all.

Which means any mistakes by the visitors could be punished in no time at all under tonight’s floodlights. The home team want to add further legs to their sprint at the start of the campaign, the away looking to turbocharge their bid to surge further up the table.

Something which sets up tonight’s clash rather nicely indeed. A big thanks to Horden for the upcoming hospitality and for those attending from an away perspective, safe travels both there and back.
