Newcastle Blue Star can confirm forward Dan Lanning has informed the club of his desire to depart the club as he wishes to challenge himself in a higher league.
The club has the option to activate a further year on the players contract, but will not stop the player from moving on as he wishes.
Lanning leaves NE15 as our top appearance maker, recording 179 in his time with the club, scoring an incredible 118 goals whilst an NE15 player.
Progressing from the Northern Alliance through to the Northern League with the club, Lanning has been with Blue Star through several squad rebuilds and been the one mainstay in recent times.
A fan favourite, and end of season award merchant, spectators have seen Lanning grow as both a person and a player over the last 5 seasons, and wish him all the best as he moves on from the KD Stadium.
Club Chairman Stephen Best, said: “Dan has given this club and it’s fans some incredible moments and memories over the years, and we certainly will not forget that.
“Whilst we are naturally disappointed in his departure, he goes with everyone’s best wishes and support, and we look forward to watching his progress.
“Fans can expect a number of incoming signings over the coming weeks, and we are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for pre-season.”
