Liam Wotherspoon: Signs for Blue Star.

Signing number three of the summer, as Newcastle Blue Star welcome Liam Wotherspoon to the KD Stadium.

The attacking-minded midfielder is our third addition of the summer, following Dan Wilson from Blyth Town, and Jack Walker from Dunston to Scotswood.

Spoony, who racked up over 100 appearances for Blyth Town, also has Northern League experience with Heaton Stannington and Birtley Town.

A player of real quality who will bring both creativity and goals to our midfield joins ahead of the 25/26 season.

First Team Manager Marc Nash welcomed The Stars third addition and said: "Liam has played a massive part in both Birtley and Blyth’s progress these past 2 seasons, and he’s a player who will improve us further with his best years still to come.

"His ability to create and score goals from open play and set pieces will add further threat to our attack. He has shown a tremendous desire to join the club, and it shone out after speaking with him lately.

"With Sean Reid still on the road to recovery and Paul Van leaving after his loan spell, we couldn’t have got a better player to boost the midfield options. There will be healthy competition for places, but this will give players an extra edge."

Fresh from signing on the dotted line, Liam looked ahead to the season and said: "It’s been a crazy few weeks since the play offs but I’m delighted to have finally joined Newcastle Blue Star! As a West End lad living just half a mile away from the ground and knowing a lot of people involved with the club, this move just felt like the perfect fit.

"It ticks a lot of boxes for any non league player, the facilities, the fans, and just the way the clubs genuinely ran is really eye catching , so after having a great chat with Nashy and Woody, it was a no brainer to get it done as soon as possible. Can’t wait to get started!"
