Newcastle Blue Star vs Crook Town (01/11/2025)

ree

As soon as one era within football ends, another begins. Marc Nash’s stint as Newcastle Blue Star manager reaching its conclusion last weekend after his decision to resign. Thanks go to himself, Woody and Graeme for their near two years at the club.

Plenty of memories made in that time, moments that will not be forgotten anytime soon and as the hunt for a new managerial team continues at the KD Stadium, the hunt for three points under interim management is Saturday’s primary agenda.

Stepping into the role for the foreseeable are the trio of Steve Harrison, Craig Robson and Andrew Bulford. How long their own tenure ends up being is unknown, but they know they and the players they have inherited must get the better of Crook Town on Saturday.

Before the visit of the County Durham outfit, Blue Star find themselves sitting 12th in the Northern League Division One table. A position that comes from only earning two points from the last 15 that have been on offer.

At the same time, those draws have come at the expense of current league leaders Guisborough Town and fellow playoff hopefuls Horden Community Welfare. The ability to perform is certainly there, that ability needs to be shown more often from here on in.

With still more than half of the campaign to go, there is still plenty to play for. This season has shown that everyone is capable of beating anyone on any given weekend – a statement backed up by Blue Star’s 5-3 defeat at Birtley this weekend.

The third game in succession that the Scotswood side have scored three goals in a league game but failed to earn three points for their attacking efforts and on an evening where fireworks are set to be let off, the afternoon needs a few more bangers in front of goal.

At the same time, visitors Crook Town will be aware of the recent lapses in Blue Star’s defence that have proved costly of late and if those same flaws are on display this weekend, the visitors will be more than ready to rocket their way to victory.

Something which sets up this upcoming clash rather nicely. A warm welcome goes out to the visiting Crook Town team and support and for those who lend their voice to the home team, make sure to bring the noise throughout.
