Newcastle Blue Star vs Easington Colliery (06/11/26)

Newcastle Blue Star return to the KD Stadium this evening looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Kendal last Saturday.
Alessio Okike low drive had given Blue Star an early lead against the Mintcakes, but the Scotswood side were unable to turn that advantage into points as the hosts struck three times after the break.
Once again, a failure to see the job through proved costly, with two late goals making the final scoreline particularly disappointing. The result leaves Blue Star with plenty to address as they look to find some consistency and avoid being drawn further into the relegation battle over the winter months.
That reverse in the Lake District leaves Blue Star 17th in the Northern League Division One table, just five points clear of the relegation places. Although they remain four places above bottom side Northallerton, the priority is now to collect the points needed to put greater distance between themselves and the teams below.
Tonight's visitors, Easington Colliery, arrive at the KD Stadium firmly in the promotion picture and with ambitions of their own at the top end of the table. However, their recent league form has been less convincing, with just a single point from their last three outings as the fixture schedule continues to come thick and fast.
Blue Star's recent record is less encouraging, with just one victory from their last six league outings. That represents the second-poorest form in the division, underlining the importance of finding a positive result against one of the league's leading sides.
There will be a little extra to enjoy at the KD Stadium this evening, with a fireworks display planned for after the final whistle. Those connected with Blue Star will be hoping, however, that the real fireworks come during the preceding 90 minutes, with a performance that gives the home support something to celebrate.
Easington Colliery make the trip to NE15 knowing they have an opportunity to get their promotion bid back on track, while Blue Star have an equally pressing need to put points on the board. With both sides looking to arrest their respective downturns of form, this promises to be an interesting test for the hosts under the lights.
Something that sets up this clash nicely. A warm welcome goes out to the visiting Easington Colliery team and support and for those who lend their voice to the home team, make sure to bring the noise throughout.
