Newcastle Blue Star vs Newcastle Benfield (02/10/2026)

After a frustrating afternoon at Northallerton last Saturday, Newcastle Blue Star return to the KD Stadium this evening with another opportunity to put three points on the board and bring an end to their run of four league games without a victory.
Blue Star appeared set to leave Northallerton with all three points after Josh Follin's deflected strike gave the visitors the lead in first-half injury time, only for the hosts to find a late equaliser and ensure the points were shared.
Having dominated for large periods of the contest, it was understandably a frustrating conclusion for Paul Brayson's side but the point will certainly be welcomed after successive 2-0 home league defeats against North Shields and Thornaby.
There was perhaps a little bit of revenge in the air too, with Northallerton finding a late goal of their own after Blue Star had scored twice in the closing stages to turn the fixture around at the KD Stadium last month.
That recent share of the points means Blue Star remain without a league victory in their last four outings, although Saturday's performance offered some encouragement that the difficult run can be ended.
The task tonight is to turn that encouragement into three points, with Newcastle Benfield the visitors for a meeting between two sides who have both experienced their own struggles during the opening weeks of the campaign.
However, Benfield arrive in Scotswood with some positive momentum behind them. At the time of writing, eight points from their last twelve available represents a significant improvement and they will be keen to ensure that run continues as they look to climb the Northern League Division One table.
While it is fair to say that both sides will have designs on making progress up the league ladder, every point on offer has been keenly contested to date and this only highlights how tough this division has become.
Something which sets up this Newcastle derby rather nicely indeed. A big welcome goes out to Newcastle Benfield, their players and support, and for those attending from a home perspective, make sure to get behind the team and bring the noise throughout.
