Northallerton vs Newcastle Blue Star (26/09/2026)

After suffering defeat to Thornaby on Tuesday, Newcastle Blue Star return to league action this afternoon with another opportunity to put three points on the board and bring an end to a difficult run of results.
The 2-0 reverse at the KD Stadium means Blue Star have now gone five matches without a victory in all competitions, while three successive outings have passed without finding the back of the opposition's net.
That run has also produced just one league point from the last 12 available, a sequence that has seen their August momentum disappear and placed increasing importance on finding a response sooner rather than later.
There is no need to overstate that sequence of results, but the longer it continues, both management and players will be aware of how difficult it becomes to simply write it off as a temporary blip.
Points dropped now still need to be recovered somewhere down the line and the opportunity to start that recovery comes against a Northallerton side who have moved up to 16th in the Northern League Division One table following a 3-2 home victory over Carlisle City on Tuesday.
It is a fixture that will already be familiar to both teams this seasom, with Blue Star coming out on top when the sides met at the KD Stadium in August.
That dramatic 2-1 victory feels a long way away now, but it provides a reminder that there is little between these teams when they meet.
Northallerton will naturally have their own reasons for wanting to reverse that result, particularly after Tuesday's five-goal success gave them another boost in their battle to climb the table.
Something which sets up this clash rather nicely indeed. A big thanks to Northallerton for the upcoming hospitality and for those attending from an away perspective, safe travels both there and back.
