Penrith vs Newcastle Blue Star (20/10/2026)

Newcastle Blue Star head to Penrith this evening looking to make it back-to-back league wins after a 3-2 victory over Marske United at the KD Stadium on Saturday. The result offers a welcome boost as the side look to build some consistency under interim manager Richard Latimer.

Blue Star made a bright start against Marske, applying early pressure down the right before Jakub Zych opened the scoring with a header on 25 minutes. Benjamin Shodeinde then marked his debut for the club with a goal just 11 minutes later to put the hosts firmly in control.

Marske pulled one back from the penalty spot through Kenzie Harker just before half-time, ensuring there was still work to do after the break. However, Blue Star held their advantage and eventually found a third through Josh Follin in the 83rd minute at the third attempt.

Even though Leo Robinson scored with virtually the last kick of the game to set up a nervy finish, Blue Star held on to secure a welcome three points. The result ended their recent run of defeats and gave the side something positive to take into tonight's trip to Penrith.

Saturday's victory moves Blue Star up to 13th in the table, creating some breathing room between themselves and the teams below. With another fixture arriving so quickly, the challenge now is to build on that result and keep moving in the right direction before the clocks go back.

As for hosts Penrith, they currently sit second bottom of the Northern League Division One table and have lost five of their last six outings. Their only victory during that spell came against Marske United, and they will be keen to respond on home soil this evening with a much-needed win.

Although Blue Star will travel with renewed confidence after Saturday's 3-2 victory, Penrith's need for points makes this another important test. A second consecutive victory for the visitors would provide further encouragement as the league campaign continues and the table begins to take shape.

Something which sets up this league clash rather nicely indeed. A big thanks to Penrith for the upcoming hospitality and for those attending from an away perspective, safe travels both there and back.
