ree

The wait is finally over, Newcastle Blue Star have a new first-team manager. Paul Brayson the next incumbent of the baton, everyone connected to the club wishes he and assistant Gareth Mcalindon the very best of luck.

While the new look management team have been dealt a baptism of fire in terms of competitive introduction. The first of three consecutive away games gets underway in a few hours, all three opponents harbouring desires of at least a playoff place at the end of the season.

The first of those opponents are Whitley Bay and with these two sides meeting on the very first weekend of the season, the entertaining 3-3 draw at the KD Stadium still lives long in the memory.

While Blue Star certainly dialled up the entertainment levels in midweek. A trip to Penrith in the League Cup could have posed as a potential banana skin, instead the team overseen by then interim boss Andrew Bulford slid through to the next round.

A 6-1 away win, building on the recent home league win at the expense of Crook. Bulford's interim stint in charge could not have gone ant better, he now hands over the reins with the squad looking confident once again.

A different looking since facing Whitley Bay back in July and with a new managerial team installed, there is a likelihood of further personnel changes to follow. However Blue Star's latest coaching custodians know they must work with what they have this afternoon.

A panel of players still brimming with talent in all departments, a group still gunning for their own promotion bid. Still plenty of the season to go. The work starts in just a few hours.

Whitley Bay looking for all three points in a bid to stay in the title hunt itself, Blue Star looking for three points in order to hunt down the teams ahead.

Something which sets up today's clash rather nicely indeed. A big thanks to Whitley Bay for the upcoming hospitality and for those attending from an away perspective, safe travels both there and back.
