A BIG signing: Kieran Galbraith.

Newcastle Blue Star are delighted to announce the signing of Kieran Galbraith, the towering defender joining The Star from Newcastle Benfield.

The experienced centre half, who has previously had spells at Bishop Auckland and Whickham as well as Benfield, is a ball playing defender who will also had a significant physical and experienced presence to our back line.

Aged 28 and very much in his prime years, Kieran joins from a Benfield side who was one of very few teams to prevent The Star from scoring in our two encounters last season.

First Team Manager Marc Nash, said: "Kieran is a massive signing for us in more ways than one.

"He's a dominating figure who had a tremendous season last year. There weren't many teams that kept a clean sheet against us, but he was part of a team that did it twice, and in both games, he was immense.

"We are having horrendous luck with injuries to senior players, so we have lacked leadership and physical presence. Also, Jack Daley moving to Middlesbrough left a massive gap in our defensive set up so we've been threadbare in that department."

Kieran joins up with Nashy's squad immediately ahead of tonights fixture vs Boro Rangers.
