A statement signing, welcome Richie Slaughter. ✍️🔵⭐️

Newcastle Blue Star are delighted to announce the signing of Richie Slaughter, the Heaton Stannington captain moving to NE15.

The popular and talented midfielder, who lifted silverware at St James' Park with the Stan in May, will bring unquestionable talent and leadership to Paul Brayson's squad.

Slaughter will be linking back up with Brayson, having played together together for a number of seasons at Newcastle Benfield. Previous clubs for Richie also include; Blyth Spartans, Dunston UTS and most recently Heaton Stannington.

Commenting on the signing, First Team Manager Paul Brayson, said: "We are thrilled to get this one over the line, eventually. I've played with Richie plenty of times, and know first hand what he will bring to the side.

"The squad will benefit hugely from Richie's good energy, his obvious quality, and the wealth of experience he will bring to our young side.

"He's the type of player that will dominate games, and that is exactly what we need."

Arriving from NE7, new signing Richie Slaughter, said: "Well it’s been hard not to take notice of Blue Star over recent years, the club has done unbelievable with the various promotion successes, and the ground/facilities are fantastic.

"I've known Brassy and Macca for years now and class them as my close mates, so when they called and said that they might be taking over at Blue Star and what the plans going forward were, I was always going to be interested.

"It was just a decision of when I was going to come, not if I was going to. I’m just looking forward to finally getting going now and hopefully help bring success to Scotswood.

Welcome to Blue Star, Richie.
