Blue Star appoint Marc Nash as new first-team manager

Newcastle Blue Star FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Marc Nash as the club’s new manager.

Marc, who won Division 1 of the Northern League with North Shields in the 2021/22 season, joins following a short period out of the game after leaving the Tyneside outfit in April 2023.

With a wealth of managerial experience, the new manager will be looking to make an instant impact at Scotswood, having previously overseen teams including Whitley Bay and Blyth Spartans Academy.

Marc will be joined on the touchline by new assistant manager Anthony Woodhouse, who has previously achieved success with Marc, as well as having an impressive playing career at Blyth Spartans, Spennymoor, Ashington & more.

It will be straight to work for Marc as Newcastle Blue Star welcome Billingham Synthonia to Scotswood this coming Friday night.

Commenting on his appointment, Marc said: “This is a great opportunity to return to the game after leaving North Shields FC in the summer. The club is extremely ambitious, and when I was approached, it was something that struck a chord immediately.”

“In all honesty, I didn't expect to come back into it at NL2, but you see the potential that this club has and the goal is to reach those higher levels. It’s a real community club and we will embrace all parts of it to try and provide a pathway for local lads to come through.

“I was at the game yesterday and it was a tough situation with so many players pulling out but the lads who played their part showed great pride and spirit, and it’s that sort of attitude that will get us through this period of instability.”

Welcoming Marc and Anthony, Chairman Stephen Best said: “This appointment absolutely reflects the ambitions of the club, and the levels that we want to be performing at.

“Marc comes to the club with a proven record of achieving success and developing local talent, something that we are committed to continuing here at Scotswood. “I wish Marc and Anthony, and hope all supporters are excited about the next steps in our clubs journey, and the second half of the season.”
