Newcastle Blue Star's leading goal scorer, and top appearance maker since reforming in 2018, Dan Lanning, has committed his future to NE15 as a the club secures the forwards service for the 25/26 season.

Following the completion of this season, where the lads narrowly missed out on promotion after defeat on penalties in the play-off final, the club has taken up the option to extend Lanning's contract by a further 12 months.

Aged just 19 years old, but already with 130 appearances and 91 goals to his name, the Star have moved to retain one of our most gifted players who has continued to develop and progress from the Northern Alliance to the Northern League, scoring goals at every level he has played.

Commenting on the contract extension, first team manager Marc Nash said: "This is a massive step to maintain stability and continue the building process following an incredibly positive season and first showing in Division 1 of the Northern League."

Marc added: "Dan's incredible goal scoring record is something that we want to build around - he's done it at every level he's played and this season was no different. 23 goals in his first season in Division 1 at his age is a wonderful achievement and testament to his quality, determination and attitude."

After signing on the dotted line, Dan said: "I’m absolutely delighted to stay at Blue Star for another season."

"I’ve loved every minute of my time here. It’s a great club with a great group of lads, and the clubs only going to keep getting better. We’ve came off the back of a good first season at this level, and I can’t wait to get started again next season."

All the best for the upcoming season, Dan!
