Newcastle Blue Star can confirm that club captain Sean Reid has departed NE15 after 70 appearances and countless magical moments.

A key player, and fan favourite, Reidy has been an influential player on the pitch since coming to Scotswood - helping lead the lads to many a memorable moment.

Despite a significant health scare, the club stood by the skipper who returned to the pitch following a period on the sidelines, and Reidy repaid the faith, going on an incredible run of form to help lead the lads to a memorable end of season run and cup final finish.

Announcing his departure, Sean Reid said: “My time at Newcastle BlueStar has been an unforgettable one. It’s a great club, but what makes it great is the fans. And by God those fans are amazing!

“Good days and bad days, they’ll be there in numbers supporting the team. So a massive thank you to all getting me through and helping me get back to playing on the pitch. You all played a part. So thank you again. I wish everyone at Blue Star all the best.”

Club Chairman Stephen Best added: “Firstly, a big thanks to Reidy for the good times and memories, there’s certainly been plenty.

“Whenever an established player leaves its tough to take, but it presents a new opportunity for an up and coming talent, and we’ve demonstrated a clear pathway from junior to senior football that we’ll continue to develop.”
