Newcastle Blue Star are delighted to confirm that the club has taken the option to extend the contract of Rio Joisce by 12 months, securing the talented playmakers services for the 25/26 season.
With over 50 appearances made already, Joisce has been an integral part of Marc Nash's plans as the lads narrowly missed out on promotion from Division 1 at the first attempt.
Rio, who joined the NE15 outfit in the summer from Blyth Spartans, has proven a key part of the Blue Star forward line, contributing vital assists from open play and set pieces throughout the season.
After securing the 19-year-olds services for another season, manager Marc Nash said: "Rio's work ethic, attitude and desire are second to none, he is exactly the sort of player that we want on the pitch and in the dressing room."
Marc added: "After coming for a short loan spell in the 23/24 season and then signing ahead of this campaign, you can see how much enjoyment Rio plays with, and the connection that he has with his teammates and fans, he loves playing his football here."
"Securing this contract extension, on the back of the Dan Lanning announcement shows the desire that this club has, and the sort of players that we want to be building around. I'm delighted to get these two signed on for another year, and I'm sure the fans will be as well."
Fresh from agreeing a new contract, Rio said: "Iām buzzing to extend my contract with Blue Star, canāt wait to get back started and create some more memories for everyone at the club."
Wishing you all the best for the upcoming season, Rio!
